Lorraine Travel is truly unique in the travel industry, having been in business  for well over half-a-century!   The Company was founded in 1948 in Havana, Cuba by Luisa and John Guiteras.  The Guiteras’ later moved Lorraine Travel to Florida and have been operating there successfully ever since.  Today, it remains one of the largest privately owned travel agencies in the State of Florida.  

 

The Company is a full-service travel agency, with significant experience in virtually every category of travel including: air, lodging ,ground (rail, auto, bus), and sea.  Numerous individuals, corporations and government agencies utilize Lorraine Travel as their full-service travel agency.  Our clients have included several Unites States Government agencies (e.g., the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Bureau of Immigration & Customs Enforcement) and universities (e.g., the University of Miami and the University of Florida).  We also manage travel for numerous corporations in the private sector.

 

These large organizations recognize that Lorraine Travel has competitive advantages over other full-service agencies.  For example, we have an exceptional staff of veteran travel professionals.  On average, our employees each have twenty-five (25) years of industry experience and nineteen (19) years tenure with the Company.  This is notable in an industry that is plagued by high turnover and inexperienced staff. 
 

Large clients also appreciate Lorraine Travel’s commitment to technological excellence.  For example, Lorraine Travel was the first Florida travel agency to fully implement the Sabre system.  We have created several web-portals to enable clients to utilize self-service models to manage Air, Lodging Ground & Sea Travel.  This includes our ability to work with  E-Gov Travel Service (ETS) & next generation ETS2 which will be used by most federal agencies for travel booking and expense management. 

 

Although a robust organization, Lorraine Travel meets the classification of a small, disadvantaged business under U.S. Small Business Administration standards.  In addition, the State of Florida has certified Lorraine Travel as a minority (Hispanic) woman owned enterprise.  To service its federal government clients, we currently have a Master Contract with the U.S. General Services Administration; TSS Schedule 599.

 

Lorraine Travel is also affiliated with some of the leading travel companies and associations in the world including, but not limited to  The Signtaure Travel Network,  Hickory Global Travel Partners  and the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA).

 

In summary, Lorraine Travel has the requisite experience and capabilities to perform the requirements set forth in most government travel solicitations.  In so doing, we leverage  government travel spending, reduce waste, and increase transparency for improved accountability. This directly aligns and supports the Office of Management and Budget Memo M-12-12 regarding Promoting Efficient Spending to Support Agency Operations with respect to travel.
